Greg was a guy I knew from comedy. We hung out a few times, did a couple shows together. I was struck by his immense intelligence and good spirit. He died yesterday after an accidental prescription drug overdose. I’ve been upset about it since I found out: too many talented people die unnecessary…
What's your theme song to the sitcom version of your life? If possible, can you describe the intro to your show, or is it a cold open with just a title card?
Dane, you might be surprised to learn this, but there has already been a television program in existence based on my life. It was called Pecados Ajenos and it ran for one season on Telemundo. It’s based on the year when I spoke Spanish and had a mild interest in polo. The content is much more telenovela than sitcom, but I think it captured my story brilliantly.
Here’s the intro to Pecados Ajenos (The Year Dan Spoke Spanish)

There’s a bit in the 30 For 30 documentary One Night In Vegas, where a journalist reads some lyrics written by Tupac Shakur. When the lyrics were being recited, I just assumed they were written by a young Tupac. I thought they were excerpts taken from his writing as a ten or twelve year old to show the audience that Tupac has always been interested in rapping.
Then I figured out those were the lyrics to “Keep Ya Head Up”.
Tupac was many things, but a decent rapper sure as hell wasn’t one of them.
